I had great expectations going into this knee surgery because
I had attended several of Dr. Christopher’s presentations at
Morristown Hamblen Healthcare System and I had spoken to
others who had been through the operation.
Still, the night before the surgery, I was wondering if perhaps my
expectations were set too high? Not so... I started my recovery
the minute I reached the hospital room and found it amazingly
simple to “stay with the program”. Rehab started immediately
and because Dr. Christopher does not cut muscles or tendons,
I had very little pain and even that was very well controlled.
A week after surgery, I was walking through my neighborhood!
It has now been 9 weeks since Dr. Christopher operated on my
knee and I am living differently than before. Three weeks after
the operation I was back teaching computer classes at the Senior
Center, attending church, shopping and walking unaided.
I am amazed and find it unbelievable how my level of activity
has increased!

On April 26, 2006, Dr. Ronald Christopher replaced my left
knee, using the new, minimally invasive procedure. I walked in
my hospital room as soon as I was returned from the surgery,
with the help of a walker & a physical therapist. I walked again
the next day, and the third day I got out of my car walked into the
house, completely unaided!
Prior to my surgery, it was difficult for me to step up onto a curb.
Climbing stairs, even a few, was extremely painful. I was even
unable to stand to chop vegetables without the aide of a stool.
Now, with my new knee, I am able to do just about anything and
I am scheduled to have the right knee replaced then, I expect
to be able to walk for pleasure!
Dr. Christopher is extremely skilled, and very caring. Every step
of the procedure was explained to me. I have recovered beyond
my greatest expectations. I am 68 years old, and look
forward to many years of pain free activity.
